Upgrading Your Server 9-51
PCI CARD
On the motherboard, the server has a riser card assembly that enables installation of PCI cards and a
RAID controller-dedicated slot that enables installation of a RAID controller. The riser card
assembly can hold up to two full-height PCI boards, three low-profile PCI boards, and one RAID
controller (for a total of six PCI boards).
Insert PCI cards for network extension and file device function extension into PCI card slots in each
riser card.
IMPORTANT:
The PCI board is extremely sensitive to static electricity. Make sure
to touch the metal frame of the server to discharge static electricity
from your body before handling the PCI board. Do not touch the
PCI card terminals or on-board parts by a bare hand or place the PCI
card directly on the desk. For static notes, see page 9-3.
Some restrictions are imposed on the combination of PCI cards
which can be installed in the server. Contact your service
representative for details.
A riser card is designed for installing only low-profile PCI cards or
full-height PCI cards. Before installing a PCI card, make sure of the
card specification.
If the SCSI controller, RAID controller, LAN card (for network
boot), or Fibre Channel controller is not connected with the hard
disk drive that contains OS, be sure to disable Option ROM for that
card. See page 4-2 for details.
